COMMENTS: 1st form introductions 1=#N is an intelligent and very focussed student. 2=#N has worked well this term in Biology. 3=#N is an intelligent and very confident student. 4=#N has performed very well in the subject this year. 5=#N is a very confident and lively student who approaches #h studies in Biology with a great deal of energy. 6=#N has worked well over the last two terms. 7=#N is an incredibly energetic and active student in this subject. 8=#N is about as dedicated to #m studies as students #m age get 9=#N is a happy and hardworking student who has worked well over the last term in this subject. 10=#N has maintained a consistent level of pleasing achievement this year. 11=#N is a very conscientious and hardworking student who produced and excellent end of year examination result. 12=#N does have a little difficulty focussing within lessons and #e seems to be self-aware of this problem but as yet still unable to control it entirely. 13=#N has worked very well this year and has demonstrated a very impressive level of maturity towards in-class practical work, tests and examinations and #m general conduct within lessons 14=#N is a very cheerful and enthusiastic young student, who obviously enjoys this subject a great deal. 15=#N has worked well over the year. 16=#N possesses definite ability in this subject as #m marks over the term and the end of year exam result indicates. 17=#N is a very focused and diligent young student who has applied #s extremely well to this subject over the last year. 18=#N is a very pleasant and likeable student, with an obvious interest in Biology. 19=#N is both a pleasant and cheerful student who appears to have plenty of enthusiasm for this subject. 20=#N is a very cheerful and enthusiastic student COMMENTS: 1st form lockdown concluding comments 1=I sincerely hope that we can all return to the Biology laboratories within Dauntsey's as soon as possible, so that we can resume the practical aspects of the Biology course, which simply cannot be replicated online. 2=I hope that we will all be able to return to the normal school environment soon, to allow us to cover the many practical aspects of the course. 3=It is my sincere hope that we can make the transition make to normal lessons very soon. 4=It will be very important that #e endeavours to seek to remember the many topics that we have covered during lockdown, so #e can make a strong start when 'normal' school lessons resume. COMMENTS: 1st form lockdown individual comments 1=#N has worked very well this term and has produced an excellent standard of work. 2=#N appears to have adjusted well to the new online environment and has been a pleasure to teach over these trying times. 3=#N has proved a lively and very active member of the virtual classroom and I have been very impressed by the level of their input and engagement. 4=#N has been a willing contributor to our classroom discussions within online lessons. 5=#N has been a very polite and played an active role within our online lessons. 6=#N has worked well within the virtual classroom environment and has also produced a pleasing work record. 7=#N has been a pleasing source of constructive input during our online lessons and has worked well on tasks outside of lesson time 8=#N has been a quieter member of the virtual classroom but #h work record has been of a high standard. 9=#N has been a quieter member of the virtual classroom but I trust they #e has found our online lessons useful and informative. COMMENTS: 1st form lockdown intro comments 1=There is no doubt that the last half term has presented its challenges for students and teachers. 2=This last half term has been an unusual one and certainly has brought its fair share of challenges for both students and teachers. 3=The last half term has come with its challenges, not least being the difficulty for teachers to gauge student interaction and progress. 4=The last half term has been a challenge for all and distance learning obviously reduces the chances the interactions that normally occur within a classroom setting. 5=This last half term has obviously provided students and staff with a reduced range of interactions that the science laboratory can offer. 6=This last half term has not been without its challenges! COMMENTS: 1st form summing up statements 1=A continued commitment to achieving the best #e can, will lead to some very pleasing results in the future in this subject. 2=Well done and keep up the good work! 3=I feel that #N has the drive and interest and to do very well in this subject over the future years. 4=#E is more than willing to ask plenty of questions during lesson time to reinforce #h understanding of new concepts and ideas, which is very pleasing, and I hope to see this trend continue into the future years ahead. 5=This high level of achievement is very pleasing and indicative of a bright future ahead in Biology. 6=There is little doubt in my mind that #e is capable of an even higher level of achievement and I feel that the years ahead will reveal further impressive progress. 7=In just over a year #e will begin to cover material that may be in the GCSE examinations of the fifth form, so while we are still a good way off from these important examinations #e will need to ‘shift up a gear’ in accordance with these increased demands next year. 8=I suspect this may be indicative of a lack of revision and I am sure that in future #e will ensure that #e prepare as well as #e can for assessments. 9=#E gained an excellent result in #h end of year assessment and I hope to see more of the same from #N over the years ahead. 10=#H level of participation within Biology lessons bodes very well for the future, as #h interest and enterprise bear the hallmarks of a very capable and talented scientist in the making. Well done and keep up the good work. 11=A consistently high level of input within lessons and practical exercises will undoubtedly lead #m towards a bright future in Biology in the years ahead. 12=At the moment #h greatest challenge will be avoiding distractions so in class so that #e can apply #s fully within a practical setting. 13=#H exam result was pleasing, though I would say weaker than #e is fully capable of and I suspect a little more revision before assessments next year will go a long way. 14=Next year #e must spend more time revising before assessments and seek out assistance from #h teacher if #e needs help developing a stronger comprehension of the topics covered in class. 15=#E does need to avoid distractions in class, notably during practical work and seek to apply #s in a more constructive way when working on investigative tasks that will become increasingly frequent in a subject like Biology over years that lie ahead. 16=This has culminated in an excellent end of year exam result and I feel that #H naturally inquisitive nature will stand #m in good stead in the years ahead. 17=Next year I would recommend that #e always approach #h teacher for further clarification of concepts that are proving particularly troublesome. COMMENTS: 3rd form assessments 1=#E is willing to contribute within lesson-based discussions, having on many occasions demonstrated a pleasing level of confidence in lessons. 2=#E has been able to develop a pleasing grasp of the subject content this year: #e has worked very hard and made real progress and is beginning to show real confidence in class. 3=#H test results and final examination result stand testament to just how successful this year has been. 4=#E has gained some very good marks over the course of the year, including #h end of year assessment 5=#E is a very capable member of the group, who quickly grasps even the more difficult concepts. Test results (and the recent assessment result) have been excellent and #e also has an pleasing record for completing prep. 6=#E has demonstrated a good understanding and has applied #h knowledge well over the year. #H recent exam result was a very pleasing culmination to #h first year of study in Biology. 7=#E has gained an encouraging result in the last assessment and these marks represent a small improvement over the previous assessment. 8=#E has frequently revealed a solid comprehension of subject material and has shown a great deal of enthusiasm for this subject throughout the year, although this did seem to wane in the lead up to final assessments. 9=#H term time record of work has been consistently pleasing but #h recent assessment was disappointing. I feel that #e is happy simply cruising without pushing #s greatly at the moment 10=#E has produced a consistently pleasing record of work throughout the last term. #H overall achievement would benefit if #e were to improve the accuracy of #h answers within a scientific context within examination level question. 11=#E has worked with increasing levels of enthusiasm and confidence in this subject and #h skills in a practical setting have progressed a great deal. #H last assessment result was pleasing and roughly in line with previous assessments over the year. 12=#H term time work has been of very mixed quality and quite disorganised, with a number of deadlines missed. Although #h heart is in the right place and I feel #e enjoys this subject a great deal, #e is a long way off from tapping into #h true potential. 13=#H term time work record has been pleasing however #h end of term assessment was disappointing, especially for a student of #h ability. 14=#H last exam result was fair, though demonstrative that there is room for progress next year. #H examination answers contained some very simple mistakes that can easily be corrected. 15=While #h end of year assessment was pleasing, #h record of work through the year was quite variable. 16=#E has an inquisitive mind and is interested in the many different aspects of Biology. #H written work has generally been good over the term, but #e did miss some deadlines near the end of the year. 17=#E has demonstrated the ability to contribute in lessons; however, there were a number of times #h attention was found to be wandering somewhat. 18=#E has produced a variable work record at times over the last year but the end of year assessment demonstrates a very pleasing comprehension of all that we have covered. COMMENTS: 3rd form final statement 1=#E has always been a ready contributor to lesson based discussions and has displayed considerable aptitude for practical work. This is a great start to #h IGCSE course. 2=Future progress will come from a combination of developing the practice of seeking out extra help from #h teachers with any areas of the subject with which #e is not confident and adopting a rigorous and comprehensive approach to revision. 3=In the future, I hope to see a continuation of #h very positive approach to this subject and perhaps an even more active role within lessons, such as building on the leadership role that has been emerging from the practical work #e has undertaken this year. 4=Now that #e has laid some good foundations at Dauntsey’s, #h main objective will be to build on this and I would encourage #m to seek out help from #h teachers outside of lessons for any particularly difficult topics. 5=If #e can maintain #h current levels of progress in this subject over the following two years, I can see #m obtaining some very pleasing results in the final assessments. 6=#E should aim to produce #h best work at all times, and always revise thoroughly for assessments. Overall, a good first year. 7=A little more revision before examinations would not go amiss but I feel #e has real natural talent for Biology and as #e matures, #h results will also improve. 8=A first step improving #h academic performance will be to revise thoroughly before examinations as well as asking more questions of #h teacher both in and outside of lessons. 9=#E should aim to maintain the high quality of #h work next year. Overall, an impressive year - keep up the good work! 10=#N needs to continue building on this positive start made this year when #e returns to school in September. 11=Next year I would like to see #m put more consistent effort into #h homework and revision before assessments. 12=Overall, a very good year. COMMENTS: 4th form assessments 1=#E is confident is class, provides very insightful answers, poses equally insightful questions and seems to have a knowledge that is superior even to some A-level students. 2=#E remains a well-mannered, bright and attentive student who has produced an excellent standard of work this term. 3=#E is eager to apply #s in this subject and has become very confident in lessons and more than willing to ask questions and challenge concepts, which had led #m to produce some excellent results this year. 4=#E has also produced an exemplary record of high marks for homework throughout the year. 5=I believe #e has a great interest in this subject and this should drive #m on, in the final GCSE year, to achieve #h very best in the final examinations. 6=#E continues to work well in lessons and has produced a very pleasing work record over the course of the term. 7=#E consistently tackles all of the tasks in this subject, whether they are in the laboratory or on paper, with a huge amount of energy, enterprise and interest. 8=#E produced a high standard of work as well as a timely record of work throughout the last term and appears to be a very able student of Biology. 9=#E has gained excellent results throughout the term for weekly assessments, which have also been very timely. 10=#E is always a well-mannered and pleasant student in class and I feel #e would benefit from asking a few more questions. 11=#E continues to work extremely well on all fronts in this subject. 12=#E is happy to ask for help in lessons when confronted with a question #e is struggling with and works well within a group during practical work. 13=Throughout the course of the year #e has attained an improving range of marks for various homework exercises and tests. 14=While #h termly assessment results over the last year are excellent, #e can improve further. 15=#H termly assessment results over the last term were a bit incongruent with #h test result, in that I would describe them as 'fair' and thus #e can improve further by focusing on the consistency of the quality of #h weekly work. 16=While #h overall approach to the subject over the last year has been excellent, #e can improve further, notably by being more consistent with prep quality and timeliness. 17=Prior to this test result #e had produced a very pleasing trend of improving marks and so this last result was a little disappointing. 18=Aside from a weaker than expected test result, #e is making pleasing progress. 19=#N is a very positive presence in the class; #e is full of confidence, always attentive and asks many very constructive questions. 20=#E does appear to enjoy this subject and #e works well within a group setting. COMMENTS: 4th form introductions 1=#N further cemented #h position at the top of the class with another impressive performance over the last term. 2=#N gained a pleasing result in the last test. 3=#N has made remarkable progress this year in a challenging environment. 4=#N has maintained an excellent record of test and assessment results which were all above the class average throughout the year. 5=#N's end of year test result was another impressive performance, securing #h position at the top of the class. 6=#N gained a result just shy of the top level grades, which rounds of a very pleasing year. 7=Olivia is a well-mannered and attentive student in this subject 8=#N has maintained a position in the top third of the class all year long. 9=Another pleasing performance in the last test from #N , further illustrating #h impressive ability within this subject. 10=#N's last test result was slightly disappointing, in that I had expected a top grade at least - this said #e produced a high standard of work as well as a timely record of work throughout the last term and appears to be a very able student of Biology overall. 11=#N's last test result was weaker than hoped for but overall, I feel #e is making pleasing progress overall. 12=#N's last test result was unfortunately a lot weaker than I had hoped for and leaves plenty of progress to be made next year. 13=#N is far more capable than #h last test result suggests. 14=#N remains only partially engaged with #h studies at the moment. 15=#N's term time performance was fair and a little disappointing when compared to the rest of the class. 16=The last test result was disappointing for #N. 17=#N's last test result was disappointing and at odds to #h approach to this subject throughout the year, which is a very active, positive and conscientious. 18=#N'S last test result was a little disappointing and definitely does not represent #h true ability. 19=The last test result was a little lower than I was expecting from #N , especially when considering #h definite interest in this subject and #h performance in previous assessments throughout the year. 20=#N did not have a particularly good time with the most recent test and has gained a mark that is much lower than expected. COMMENTS: 4th form summary statements 1=There is still a great deal to cover in the syllabus and #e must now be prepared to maintain #h current high standard of work in class and also initiate an energetic revision program that goes back over past work over the next very important academic year. 2=#H current approach to the subject is a successful one and as long as #e maintains a solid comprehension of the topics that we have covered over the last two years, I feel that #e should achieve a very pleasing result in the final exams next year. 3=I have no doubt that any warning to avoid complacency or ‘taking it easy’ is completely needless, as #e has always appeared to know exactly what the score is in terms of the required inputs for this subject. 4=Of course there is room for improvement and I have no doubt #e will continue to progress in this subject and seek to achieve the best results #e can in the future, especially now that the IGCSE examinations drawing ever nearer. 5=Next year #e must identify areas of the Biology syllabus that #e is not confident with and be willing to revise them thoroughly and to approach me for help in any part of the course #e is not sure about. 6=I would ask that #e regularly revisits the topics that we have covered over the last two years as the final exams will be on three year’s work and suspect the biggest danger facing #N, is that #e forgets the detail of some of the earliest topics. 7=Further progress will come from a combination of continuing to seek out extra help from me with any areas of the subject that #e is not confident with and developing a rigorous and comprehensive approach to revision. 8=#E obviously has the potential to do very well in this subject and I feel this is more likely to be achieved when #e continues to strengthen #h comprehension of the subject over the year ahead. 9=#E works well in a group and practical setting and I feel that as long as #e continues to work at this current pace and standard, #e should look to enjoy some excellent results in the final exams next year. 10=#E would benefit from asking more questions in lessons, however, #h current approach to the subject is a successful one and as long as #e maintains a solid comprehension of the topics that we have covered over the last two years, I feel that #e should achieve pleasing results in the final exams next year. 11=I think key to making further progress is an increased willingness to ask questions within and outside of lessons. #E should be absolutely tenacious about developing a solid comprehension of every topic in the time remaining before the final examination. 12=#E can still make significant progress as evidenced by #h last result and next year I would like to see a greater level of inquisitiveness in lessons. 13=#E would benefit from a little more time spent researching answers to some prep questions or deliberating over #h answers in tests before putting them to pen. 14=Next year #e will need to try and establish greater consistency in this subject, this will come from ensuring #e revises well before all tests and exams and continues to ask plenty of questions in lessons. 15=#E remains a little too easily distracted in lessons at times and I think that if #e can develop a more focussed approach to this subject next year, there will be a reduced risk of #m under performing in the final examinations. 16=Next year, I would like to see a reinvigorated approach, in which #h work is competed to #h full ability and #e prepares thoroughly for tests and exams. COMMENTS: 5th form assessment comments (nov) 1=#H last test result earned #m a top grade again and I am especially pleased to see that #e is maintaining a consistently excellent standard of achievement within #h assessments. 2=#H record of work over the term is pleasing one as #e has managed to stay on top of #h work load and hand #h work in a timely fashion. 3=#H approach to Biology has become a lot more mature and #e seems to have developed a real interest in the subject. 4=#E appears to enjoy this subject and #h term-time work record reflects this, as #e has been both punctual and consistently working to a high standard. 5=#H work record through the last term is a pleasing one, being both of a high standard and punctual. 6=#E has produced a high standard of work over the last term which has also been punctual. #E works extremely well within a practical setting and team environment. #E gained a very pleasing result in a recent topic test. 7=. #H work ethic is a pleasing mix of focused enterprise and an eagerness to achieve the best results #e can. #E gained a very pleasing test result in the last topic test and I am sure I will see #h very positive approach to this subject continue. 8=. #H term-time work reflects this as #h general standard of work has been high over the last term. #E is more than willing to ask plenty of questions within lessons, which is very pleasing and will ensure #e develop #h comprehension of this subject further. 9=#E works well in a practical setting on #h own or as part of a group. 10=I do feel that #e ‘cruising’ well below #h true ability and #e would benefit from a more active approach to this subject; asking more questions in lessons or seeking additional help outside of lessons. 11=#H term-time work record has been a very good one and #e has produced a timely and high standard of work. #E is a confident student who is quite happy to join in within constructive classroom discussions. 12=. #H term-time work record has been timely and of a very pleasing standard, #e does however tend to underachieve a little in tests/exams, #h recent grade in the last topic test is testament to this observation. 13=#E gained a reasonable grade in a recent test, which was good but I do feel that #e is ‘cruising’ below #h true ability and #e needs to translate #h very lively and confident approach in class into improved academic results. 14=#H term-time work record, while being mostly of a pleasing standard, has unfortunately lacked punctuality. The result for #h last topic test was good but still off from #m full potential and illustrates the need for greater organisation when completing weekly prep work as well as conducting preparations for topic tests. 15=#H term time work record is good but #h last test result produced a lower than expected grade, which is disappointing as I know that #e capable of far better. 16=#H approach to Biology has become a lot more mature and #e seems to have developed a real interest in the subject. #H work record this term has been good (with occasional aberrations) and #e gained a very pleasing grade in #m last topic test. 17=#H last topic test result however, was lower than expected and was certainly below #h full potential in this subject. 18=#H last test result was a bit disappointing for a student who has demonstrated so much overall improvement since last year. 19=#E gained a good result in the last topic test but there is room for improvement and next term #e will need to push #s to achieve a higher standard. 20=#E is at times, a little too easily distracted and would benefit from being a little more focused in lessons. COMMENTS: 5th form concluding statements (nov) 1=#E must prepare fully for the mock examination over the Christmas break, as #e needs to deliver a performance indicative of #h best. Generally, students will gain a grade for the final examination over the one they gain in the mock examination, so #N needs take the approaching mocks seriously. 2=#E continues to demonstrate a real flair for this subject, this combined with more time spent forming a solid comprehension of the subject material over the Christmas break should allow #m to produce some pleasing mock examination results next term. 3=A good solid program of revision will go some way towards guaranteeing a good mark in the approaching mock and GCSE examinations. 4=The mock examination is an important approaching target to prepare for #h performance in this will often act as an indication for how #e is likely to perform in the final examination. I would like to see #m aim for a grade higher than #h recent test grade as this will be a fair reflection of #h full ability. 5=#E gained a very pleasing A grade in the last test, a grade that I would like to see #h obtain of better, in the mock exams after the Christmas break. 6=#E is capable of better and I would like to see #m gain at least one grade from this last test result in the approaching mock examination in January. 7=#E must ensure that #e makes the appropriate preparations for the mock examinations in early January, so #e continue to build on this very pleasing progress this year. 8=I have no doubt that this pleasing level of effort will continue throughout the rest of the year. I would also like to see a continued drive to seek constant improvement in Biology by active participation within discussions, sound revision before the approaching mock (and final) examination and a willingness to ask questions in and out of lesson time. Well done on a very successful term! 9=#E has an obvious flair for Biology and this will stand #m in good stead for preparing for the mock examination over the Christmas break. 10=#E is capable of far more than #e has achieved so far and I would like to see #m improve by a least a grade in the approaching January mock exams. Seeking further help from #h teachers and developing a well-structured revision programme will be essential in preparing for the approaching GCSE examinations. 11=#E has the potential to do very well in Biology but this will require a concerted and sustained drive to improve #h comprehension of the content that we have been covering over the last three years. 12=A well-planned revision programme will be an essential feature of #h Christmas break, so that #e can achieve all that #e is capable of in the mock exams. 13=I would like to see #h #m focus on a serious revision programme over the Christmas break, to prepare fully for the mock examination in January. Finally, it is essential that #e remain focused in lessons. 16=#E has demonstrated a real flair for this subject, this combined with more time spent forming a solid comprehension of the subject material should allow #m to produce some pleasing mock and IGCSE examination results. 17=Mock examinations will begin just after the Christmas holidays and it is worth bearing in mind that most students will go on to gain a grade between the mock and the actual examination in June. 18=I hope that #e prepares fully over the Christmas break for #h mock exam, as I would like to set a target of a minimum 7 grade for this.
