COMMENTS: 2 - comments - writing skills 2 1=#H writing is often interesting though #e must check that #h written responses are always as clear as #h ideas. 2=#H writing is usually well-developed and #e must continue to extend this skill using sophisticated sentencing, as well as cohesion between paragraphs, to create effects in #h work. 3=#H written work has improved this year, as reflected in #h recent marks. 4=#H written work has improved this year, although the technical accuracy sometimes affects #h marks. 5=#H writing is interesting though #e must also consider the effects #e can create through sentencing, word choices and overall paragraphing. 6=#H writing is interesting to read though #e must also consider the effects #e can create through sentences, paragraphs and vocabulary. 7=#H writing is reasonably clear though it lacks sufficient development in terms of effective paragraphing and sentence structure. 8=#H written work is reasonably clear though #e must pay close attention to detail, especially with paragraphing and punctuation. 9=#H written work shows that #e can use simple and complex sentences well; to improve #e must use drafting to check the quality of #h paragraphing and try to add more imaginative details to #h work. 10=#H writing is interesting and largely accurate though #e must consider how to create effects through sentencing, cohesive paragraphing and sophisticated vocabulary. 11=#E has made some pleasing progress this year but to improve #h written work #e must continue to work on the strength and clarity of #h expression. 12=Proof-reading, aloud if necessary, will help #h to improve. 13=#H writing is interesting and imaginative though #e could develop details #h paragraphing and the quality of #h sentences, to achieve higher grades. 14=#H writing is interesting and largely accurate though #e must show more willingness to develop #h work in terms of using more ambitious vocabulary, sophisticated sentencing and cohesive paragraphing. 15=To improve, #e should revise #h use of commas and connectives. 16=The technical aspect of #h writing has improved, although #e must revise #h use of commas. 17=The technical aspect of #h writing has improved, and #e must continue to experiment with using a range of sentence structures, including subordinate clauses, and make an effort to keep #h handwriting neat and tidy. 18=#H writing is imaginative and demonstrates #h ability to use a range of sentence structures for affect 19=#H writing is interesting to read and accurate. 20=#H written work shows that #e can use a range of simple and complex sentences well; to improve #e must focus on selecting words for affect. COMMENTS: 2 - comments - written assignments 1=In #h written work #e follows all instructions. 2=#E follows all instructions when working on written tasks. 3=Written assignments are always completed with diligence. 4=Written assignments are always completed well. 5=Written assignments are completed satisfactorily. 6=#H written work is done with care and good creativity. 7=#H written work is done with care and attention. COMMENTS: 2 - recommendation - opening - bad 1=Further completion and revision would definitely have a positive effect on #h overall progress. 2=#N has put forth inconsistent effort during year and has failed to complete most tasks and assignments. 3=Unfortunately, #N frequently misses class, which has had an effect on #h progress. 4=#H's participation is limited which I believe could be having and impact on #h progress. 5=#E is encouraged to participate in order to engage #s in the material and allow myself to address any issues #e may have immediately. COMMENTS: 2 - recommendations - attendance 1=#N's attendance is sporadic, which has affected #h overall progress #Time-period. 2=Unfortunately, #e has not attended enough classes to achieve complete success in our current term, but I look forward to seeing more of #m in future lessons. 3=#H punctuality and attendance problems have slightly hindered #h progress during the term. 4=#E needs to try to find ways to improve #h attendance next year if #e wants to continue to make progress. 5=I understand that #h absences were for reasons beyond #h control, but #h poor attendance is affecting #h ability to progress. 6=Despite a variety of issues affecting #h attendance, #e has made progress during the last term. 7=I highly recommend #e try to find ways to improve #h attendance #time-period if #e wants to continue to make good progress. 8=#N is encouraged to attend more frequently to help #h progress at a quicker pace. 9=Unfortunately, #N has not attended enough classes to really make the most of the classes. I look forward to seeing more of #N in future lessons. 10=#N attendance is sporadic. More consistency will have a positive impact on #h progress. 11=I would #synonymsRecommends that #e now aims to improve #h attendance rate, considering the few hours we have for English class. 12=I would also #synonymsRecommends that #e improves #h attendance and that #e catches up on any work missed due to absence. COMMENTS: 2 - recommendations - attitude 1=While #e participates #adverb2 during class, #e often chooses not to speak in English. 2=While #e seems to know the correct answers when called on, #e doesn’t always show a lot of motivation in class. 3=#E has sometimes had trouble staying motivated during our video classes. 4=#E sometimes has trouble paying attention to the lesson. COMMENTS: 2 - recommendations - common errors 1=When dealing with general common errors, #N expressed that #e found it a bit difficult. I recommend spending a bit more time on these errors in the future. 2=Even at #h level #e quite often makes very basic mistakes. I would like to work together with #m to identify these errors so that #e can try to get out of the habit of making them. COMMENTS: 2 - recommendations - efforts/ progress 1=I would #recommend #e to focus on improving #h organisational skills, so that #e comes to every lesson fully prepared. 2=#N now needs to ensure that #e reads through #h work, in between lessons, and that #h spends more time revising. This should ensure that #N's grades improve and that #e is a step closer to attaining #h target grade. 3=#N now needs to read through all #h written work to ensure that there are no mistakes and that #e has included all the correct keywords and terms. 4=#N would benefit from setting some time aside to learn the correct spelling and use of key scientific terminology, as this would help #m to improve #h written work and attainment. 5=#E is attentive during lessons and is willing to answer questions, but I would like to see #m begin to contribute #h thoughts and go beyond just answering questions, as I believe that #h could add a lot to the class discussions. 6=I would like to see #N developing #h group working skills. At present the temptation to cause distraction when working with others is too great, meaning that often #N starts to fall behind in #h work. 7=I would like to see #N developing #h ability to work more independently on tasks. At present #e can give up too easily, when the work gets difficult. #E needs to persevere and try to solve the problem #s before asking for help. 8=I would #recommend #h to now focus on #h organisational skills and that #e tries to hand in every piece of homework before the deadline. 9=I would #recommend that #e now aims to improve their concentration in lessons and that #e tries to focus on the instructions being given. 10=#N would now benefit from regularly reading through and reviewing #h class notes, to ensure that #e is constantly revising and learning the content covered in class. 11=#N needs to read around the topics covered in class to broaden and improve #h general scientific knowledge. 12=I would also #recommend that #e improves #h attendance and that #e catches up on any work missed due to absence. 13=#N needs to ensure that #e starts revision for the next set of exams a lot earlier. This will ensure that #e is far better prepared. 14=#N would benefit from looking through exam-style questions from the textbooks, in order to start applying #h knowledge to an exam situation; paying close attention to the number of marks available for different questions. 15=I would #recommend that #e now focuses on improving #h exam technique and that #e spends more time practising examination style questions, using all the resources at #h disposal. 16=I would #recommend #m to carefully analyse those areas where marks were lost in the mock examination, and that #e studies the corrections we have gone through in class. 17=#N also needs to improve #h graph work skills. #H needs to be more accurate when drawing graphs as well as being able to comment on the patterns and relationships that pre-drawn graphs show. 18=One goal for next term would be for #m to ask questions when #e does not understand. I understand that #e may be shy, but I encourage #m to take #h charge of #h learning. 19=#E should also try to spend more time on #h homework and ask for help whenever #e is unsure about any of the activities. 20=I would encourage #N to focus on improving #h exam technique, by practising more examination style questions, from #h textbook and revision guide, as well as additional resources, such as those on the my-GCSEscience webpage. COMMENTS: 2 - recommendations - fluency 1=My recommendation for improvement for you is to focus on your fluency and spoken English. At the moment you are doing a great job using newly learned grammatical structures, vocabulary and expressions from class, so now we can work on finding a balance between accuracy and fluency. To help you, you could try timing yourself telling a popular children’s story or explaining what you did at the weekend to a friend in English in under 2 minutes. 2=Next term I would like to focus on improving #h spoken fluency. This is linked to #h lexical competence and vocabulary range, but with a bit of reading and practice #e will be able to improve that as #e is a very able student. COMMENTS: 2 - recommendations - focus, homework, efforts 1=I encourage #N to work on increasing participation in class discussions and asking more questions. 2=Overall, I am pleased with #h work this term, but I also encourage #m to remember to always do the homework, to really make the most of the classes. 3=#N's classroom focus is to be commended; however, increased participation in class discussion and questioning is encouraged. 4=#N is encouraged to continue working in an enthusiastic manner. 5=#N is a friendly and accomplished student who is encouraged to continue working diligently. 6=#N is encouraged to focus more on the content being studied, rather than the social aspects of the class. 7=Homework plays a huge role in increasing possibilities of improvement in terms of English level and this is sometimes a missed opportunity. However, I understand this lockdown period has been a difficult time, so this is something that we can really focus on once this passes. 8=#N only needs to study a little harder to become a great student. 9=#N will be a great student if #e studies just a little harder. 10=#N will achieve #h full potential when #e learns to apply #s a little more. 11=#N is a very able student, but #e will only have the opportunity to show that once #e applies #s a bit more both in and out of class. COMMENTS: 2 - recommendations - grammar 1=My recommendation for next term is to review the grammar points we have done in class and try to incorporate them into your spoken and written English, moving them from a receptive level to a productive level. Having a good grasp of English grammatical structures will give you an advantage in conversations. 2=Having a good grasp of English grammatical structures and general use of English will give #m an edge over others. This is my recommendation in terms of an area of focus - to review the grammar points we have done in class and try to incorporate them into #h spoken and written English. 3=#E does not yet have sufficient command of grammar and #e has not absorbed new material effectively. #E needs to increase #h understanding of grammatical rules and constructions. #E should also practise using the structures #e knows correctly in conversation and on paper. 4=#N needs to focus on learning the basics of English grammar as assigned in class. 5=#E can now work towards mastering the grammar points that we covered in class. 6=#N should begin by going over the grammar seen in class to ensure #e is able to apply it to #h written and spoken English outside of the classroom. 7=I recommend #e begin by going over the grammar seen in class to ensure #e is able to apply it to #h written and spoken English outside of the classroom. 8=I would also like to focus a bit on #h use of grammar when speaking as #e is able to use it correctly, but when #e wants to get #h message across, #e sacrifices #h accuracy for fluency. By improving this, #e will increase #h level overall when speaking. 9=#E seems to struggle with #? and #?, but with a little further revision, #e will be able to fully understand the correct usage and apply it to #h spoken and written English. COMMENTS: 2 - recommendations - homework 1=Homework needs to be an area of focus again this year. It needs to be detailed and well thought out, taking the required amount of time to complete. If #N is ever stuck with homework, #e should come and ask for help straight away. 2=Homework plays a huge role in increasing possibilities of improvement in terms of English level and this is sometimes a missed opportunity. However, I understand this lockdown period has been a difficult time, so this is something that #e can really focus on once this passes. 3=#H homework is #frequadv handed in on time and this is something #e must #synonymsChange for next year. 4=#synonymsBut, homework is an area of concern, as #N needs to ensure that it is completed with the required amount of effort and handed in before the deadline. 5=#synonymsBut, homework needs to be an area of focus again this year. 6=Homework needs to be detailed and well thought out, taking the required amount of time to complete. 7=Doing #h homework is still an area for improvement. #E should also try to spend more time on it and ask for help whenever #e is unsure about any of the activities. 8=#E has shown improvement in #h work habits but it still needs further improvement. 9=Next term I would like to see #m find a little bit more time outside of class to complete #h homework. 10=#E can greatly benefit from completing all #h homework assignments to be able to progress at a faster rate. 11=Try to give yourself 10 minutes a day just for revising what we've done in class and you should see a difference in your English in a short time. 12=Finding time to do the homework will help you see more progress more quickly. 13=Furthermore, #h homework is #frequadv handed in on time, with no late submissions. 14=#E should also try to spend more time on #h homework and ask for help whenever #e is unsure about any of the activities. 15=Unfortunately, #e did not take advantage of homework to revise new language and #e would benefit from involving #s more in whole-class exercises. 16=#E completed #h homework to a satisfactory standard and #e made helpful contributions during class activities. 17=#E took advantage of homework to consolidate #h learning and #e was a lively participant in activities in class. 18=#E needs to continue to put forth more of an effort when it comes to #h homework. 19=#E tends to rush through things, so some assignments are not as well done as they could be. COMMENTS: 2 - recommendations - level 1=#H English language skills remain below those appropriate for this course level. 2=#E is a self-assured and very fluent member of the group, obviously partly due to #h relatively high level. Despite this disparity #e took full advantage of the class activities and never looked bored or unchallenged as #e stretched #s. 3=#N is a very able student, but #e will only have the opportunity to show that in a more appropriate level. 4=I know #N has a lot of potential, but the material in this level has discouraged #h English abilities slightly. 5=I believe #N will learn English much better if put in a level more suitable for #m. COMMENTS: 2 - recommendations - listening 1=English television, radio, music and reading will improve listening and understanding. 2=Listening is one of #N's real strengths and #e has taken full advantage of every chance to practise. #E picks up the gist of listening texts successfully and #e pays excellent attention to specific details. #E can handle many different types of content during listening activities. 3=Listening is an area in which #e is confident but #e is capable of better progress if #e applies #s. #E sometimes listens for the gist of a script successfully and #e understands specific details competently. #E can listen equally well to a range of audio material. 4=#E can benefit from listening to audio books and extended listening activities to further develop #h listening skills. If an opportunity arises where we can discuss the listening together, that would be ideal. 5=Listening is an area in which #e is not yet confident and #e must try to make more progress in order to maximise #h ability. However, #e can understand the basic meaning of easier listening scripts and #e must now pay more attention to important details. Furthermore, #e would benefit from expanding the range of audio material #e can handle. 6=I recommend #e continue to work on #h listening skills. A good way to incorporate more English listening activities is to listen as much as #e can outside of the classroom in #h free time, such as watching films in original version / with subtitles, listening to music and following the lyrics. 7=Another weaker area this term was listening comprehension. this is an ongoing area for improvement, and #e is doing well and I am sure #e will make great headway when #e puts #h mind to it. 8=For next term I would like to see #h focus a little bit more on improving #h listening skills, as this is #h weakest area. The listening skills can be improved at a faster rate if #e made more of an effort to do #h homework, especially when missing classes. 9=Although #e has made progress with this, I still recommend #e work on improving #h listening skills, as they are key to interacting with natives and could help #m enormously in calls and meetings at work. Overall, I think #N has made good progress. 10=I suggest #e challenge #s and #h listening skills outside of class by watching short news clips/ or podcasts in #h free time. 11=I recommend #e practise listening to different accents to further develop #h listening skills. One suggestion is to watch one interview per week of a favourite music band or sports icon on YouTube for example. 12=The listening excerpts have seemed difficult for #m this term. I recommend repeating some of the listening activities we have done together. 13=#H listening seems to be improving, but I still suggest #e challenge #s a bit by doing some work outside of class. Listening to short clips from the Internet on subjects #e is interested in should help #m feel more comfortable. COMMENTS: 2 - recommendations - opening lines 1=Now you can work on building up #h #skill. 2=#E now needs to ensure that #e improves #h #skill. 3=#E should ensure #e spends more time on #skill. 4=#N would benefit from focusing on #h #skill. 5=I would like to see #m begin to 6=I would #synonymsRecommends that #e now aims to improve #h 7=#N would now benefit from 8=I would also #synonymsRecommends that #e 9=One goal for next term would be for #m to 10=#E should try to improve #h #skill. 11=I would encourage #N to focus on improving #h COMMENTS: 2 - recommendations - participation 1=#E is attentive during lessons and is willing to answer questions, but I would like to see #m begin to contribute #h thoughts and go beyond just answering questions, as I believe that #h could add a lot to the class discussions. 2=#N would now benefit from regularly reading through and reviewing #h class notes, to ensure that #e is constantly revising and learning the content covered in class. 3=I would #synonymsRecommends that #e now aims to improve their concentration in lessons and that #e tries to focus on the instructions being given. 4=One goal for next term would be for #m to ask questions when #e does not understand. I understand that #e may be shy, but I encourage #m to take #h charge of #h learning. 5=I would encourage #N to focus on improving #h participation in class. This means speaking up as much as possible and asking questions. 6=I would like #m to work on shifting from giving one-word answers to using full sentences wherever possible. This way there are more opportunities to correct #m and make progress. 7=#E is a little timid at times when answering questions and I'd like #m to work on projecting #h voice as well as initiating discussion more often. 8=#E participates in class discussions from time to time but I hope #e will share more often. 9=I would love to see #m participate more in class discussions. 10=#E is a little quiet in class but is gaining confidence and participating more. COMMENTS: 2 - recommendations - progress/ efforts 1=Further revision would definitely have a positive effect on #h overall progress. 2=#E is a quick learner and is always striving to use what #e has learned whenever #e gets the chance. 3=#E should continue #h current efforts and commit to regular revision to consolidate #h understanding of key vocabulary and grammar seen in class. This should allow #m to maintain #h current rate of progress. 4=#N should focus on getting to class on time and completing #h homework to the best of #h ability in order to improve #h overall performance. 5=Learning a language is a steady process, so don't be disappointed if you feel like you are progressing slowly. Keep up the good attitude and you will see improvements. 6=Try to give yourself 10 minutes a day just for revising what we've done in class and you should see a difference in your English in a short time. 7=Finding time to do the homework will help you see more progress more quickly. 8=#E should maintain #h current level of effort and focus in order to continue #h current rate of improvement. 9=#N has had a mixed year but there are signs of improvement in #h progress of late. 10=#E hasn't made steady progress this term due to a lot of absences. I hope to see more of #m next term to improve at a faster rate. 11=#E has improved #h #? to a certain degree, but I would like to see overall further progress made next #time-period. 12=#N hasn't performed as I would expect this #time-period. 13=#E is a very capable student, but can be guilty of getting distracted by other work on occasion. Having said that, #e has generally progressed quite well over the #time-period. 14=#E is capable of working well, however there are times when #e gets distracted with other work, sometimes resulting in missing the instructions set out in class or careless mistakes made as a result. 15=#E is a hard-working member of the class, however #e does tend to rush at #h work, resulting in careless mistakes. 16=#E has made #progress progress this term, but I expected just a little more effort on #h part. 17=#N should continue to work hard and focus on improving #h extended writing skills in order to maintain #h current rate of progress. 18=#E should continue to apply #s in order to maintain #h high standards. COMMENTS: 2 - recommendations - pronunciation 1=#H pronunciation is great, though #e is sometimes shy to speak in class. 2=#H pronunciation is a little behind. I recommend working on it by learning the words to popular English songs and singing along. Singing helps you relax and just get those words out, as well as helping your rhythm and intonation. Because you don't need to concentrate on constructing sentences for yourself, you can concentrate on making your pronunciation sound great! 3=I sometimes have trouble understanding #h speaking. I encourage #N to speak more English in class, as it will help improve #h pronunciation. 4=#E needs to work on #h pronunciation because there are times when it impedes communication. 5=#E still needs to work on #h pronunciation and fluency because some English sounds are still problematic for #m to articulate and although #h fluency has improved, #e has a tendency to sacrifice #h pronunciation for getting the message across to the listener. 6=#E needs to work on #h pronunciation. Remember, that before you learn how to speak, you’ll need to learn how to listen. One way to improve this area is by practising minimal pairs - words like sleep and slip, that are only different by one sound. 7=#E needs to work on #h pronunciation. I suggest #e really work on noticing how #h mouth and lips move. Use a mirror and watch other people’s mouths and lips when they talk. Try following along. Can you repeat the faces and sounds that they make? Use guides online to help. 8=One area I recommend #e work on is #h pronunciation. A good way to work on that is to break down words into sounds / syllables. Say the words slowly and pause after each syllable. This website shows you the syllables in any word you look up, and even shows you how to pronounce it: https://www.howmanysyllables.com/ 9=Sometimes where you put the stress in a word can change the word’s meaning. The best way to learn this is by listening and practicing. Here is an example: https://www.wordexample.com/list/verbs-stress-2nd-syllable.pdf. 10=#E can now begin working on improving #h pronunciation. Watching movies and TV shows are fantastic ways to learn English and pick up accents. I particularly recommend watching TV series, because you have hours of content, and you learn to understand characters’ accents over time. 11=I recommend #e work on #h pronunciation. Exaggerating certain sounds, #e finds difficult until #e feels ridiculous. By being super over the top in #h pronunciation, #e will become more and more aware of the shape of #h mouth and placement of #h tongue when #e makes that sound. 12=I recommend #e work on #h pronunciation. Exaggerating the #? sound, as #e finds it difficult. Repeat it until #e feels ridiculous. By being super over the top in #h pronunciation, #e will become more and more aware of the shape of #h mouth and placement of #h tongue when #e makes that sound. 13=#E can now begin to work on #h pronunciation. YouTube has many options to practice this. #E could also practice with tongue twisters. #E can also hear some tongue twisters spoken by a native English speaker on Rachel’s English: https://www.youtube.com/user/rachelsenglish. 14=I suggest #e continue to work on improving #h pronunciation. One way to practise is by recording #s with a camera (this will allow #m to see how #e speaks, not only hear it). 15=I suggest #e continue to work on improving #h pronunciation. #E can try by making a rule for #s: #e must speak English to #s at home. For example, narrating what #e is doing when #e is cooking dinner or getting ready for bed. 16=I suggest #e continue to work on improving #h pronunciation. Pronunciation is as important to learning English as vocabulary and grammar. If #e practises and makes a consistent effort to improve in this area, I’m sure #e will soon be on #h way to pronouncing well. COMMENTS: 2 - recommendations - reading 1=I encourage #N to read English at home more often. 2=#N could benefit from reading English books and magazines at home as often as possible. 3=If #e is to improve #e #modal-verbs read more regularly at home. 4=Generally, #e is beginning to make good progress but #e now needs to read more challenging books. 5=#H reading skills are not yet secure and #e has made little progress in #h understanding of English text. In spite of this, #e can sometimes use skim-reading to pick up the main ideas of a text. Tom currently finds scanning for detail challenging and #e ought to practise reading texts carefully to understand their meaning. 6=I recommend #e continue to hone #h reading skills as it will help #m to develop #h vocabulary much more quickly. 7=#E can greatly benefit from building up #h reading skills. I suggest looking for specific words in articles, blogs, the Internet, and magazines etc. or reading books for pleasure. 8=#E can improve #h reading skills by reading carefully, paying particular attention to word endings. COMMENTS: 2 - recommendations - speaking (general) 1=#E expresses #s adequately when speaking and #e has improved steadily since the beginning of the course. Despite that, #e must start to minimise errors in #h speaking while practising to develop a more natural pace and rhythm. A little more study of pronunciation would also be worthwhile. 2=I would also like to focus a bit on #h use of grammar when speaking as #e is able to use it correctly, but when #e wants to get #h message across, #e sacrifices #h accuracy for fluency. By improving this, #e will increase #h level overall when speaking. 3=There are times that #e sacrifices accuracy for fluency and getting the message across, so I would recommend #e work on incorporating grammar and focusing on that while speaking. 4=For next term I would like #m to focus on #h accuracy when speaking. Sometimes #e overcompensates fluency to get the message across, but by taking #h time and thinking more carefully about #h vocabulary, #e would see significant improvements in the quality of #h speech and also writing. 5=One thing I would like #N to work on is #h speaking confidence. 6=I think #N needs to overcome #h shyness, so #e can practice speaking English in class more. 7=#N's sentence structure needs a little bit of work when speaking. 8=#H grammar when speaking is often confused and could use some more practice. 9=#N needs to speak in English more, as #h English speaking skills are falling behind #h peers'. COMMENTS: 2 - recommendations - speaking - accuracy 1=#E expresses #s adequately when speaking and #e has improved steadily since the beginning of the course. 3=Your fluency is great. Now you can work on building up your accuracy. Having a good grasp of English grammatical structures will give you an advantage and help you come across more eloquent and increase the listener’s interest. This is my recommendation in terms of an area of focus. Review the grammar points we have done in class and try to incorporate them into your spoken and written English, moving them from a receptive level to a productive level. 4=You should try to use English more in class- especially if this is the only forum where you can practice. 5=Although it's difficult, try your best to think in English when you are in class. This will help you because you will be accessing language that you know. If you think in your native tongue you have a much larger vocabulary and you will have to rely on constant translation. 6=Please remember to take all opportunities to speak in English in class. The more you use English, the easier it will become. 7=Your progress is slow, but steady so keep up the hard work. It will get easier with time 8=There are times that #e sacrifices accuracy for fluency and getting the message across, so I would recommend #e work on incorporating grammar and focusing on that while speaking. 9=For next term I would like #m to focus on #h accuracy when speaking. Sometimes #e overcompensates fluency to get the message across, but by taking #h time and thinking more carefully about #h vocabulary, #e would see significant improvements in the quality of #h speech and also writing. COMMENTS: 2 - recommendations - speaking - fluency 1=#E sometimes has to pause while speaking in order to access a word from #h prior knowledge. This occasionally leads to #h point getting lost. If #e were to build up #h vocabulary range by reading or reviewing in more detail the vocabulary we have seen together, #e would improve #h fluency significantly. COMMENTS: 2 - recommendations - vocabulary 1=Practise makes perfect and this is exactly the right way to go about improving your level. This is something I recommend as a focus point - to review all the grammar points done in class and go over the vocabulary lists and common errors. This will create a solid foundation and a deeper understanding of what we have learned together. 2=I also look forward to reviewing the vocabulary with #m, so that #e can remember and use it outside of the classroom on #h own, without being elicited. 3=#H English is currently limited by #h weak vocabulary but #e is progressively adding new words to it. Nevertheless, #e needs to broaden #h vocabulary to enable #m to cope in a greater variety of contexts. #E also ought to practise using the words #e knows in an appropriate and natural way. 4=My focus for #h for the following term is to build up #h vocabulary range and lexical competence even further, which we can do through speaking and reading activities. 5=#E sometimes has to pause while speaking in order to access a word from #h prior knowledge. This occasionally leads to #h point getting lost. If #e were to build up #h vocabulary range, by reading or reviewing in more detail the vocabulary we have seen together, #e would also improve #h fluency. 6=#H vocabulary skills still need some work, but #e is always improving. 7=#N's vocabulary skills still need a bit of work. 8=#E is still having some problems with #h vocabulary 9=#H vocabulary is still a bit behind the rest of the class. 10=#E would benefit from further studying vocabulary from past lessons. COMMENTS: 2 - recommendations - writing - bad 1=#H writing is interesting and largely accurate though #e must show more willingness to develop #h work in terms of using more ambitious vocabulary, sophisticated sentencing and cohesive paragraphing. 2=#H writing is interesting and largely accurate though #e must consider how to create effects through sentencing, cohesive paragraphing and sophisticated vocabulary. 3=#H writing is interesting and imaginative though #e could develop details #h paragraphing and the quality of #h sentences to really progress in this area. 4=#E has been writing to a reasonable standard during this course but #e has made limited progress in this area. 5=#H written work shows that #e can use a range of simple and complex sentences well; to improve #e must focus on selecting words for affect. 6=#H written work is reasonably clear though #e must pay close attention to detail, especially with paragraphing and word order. 7=#H writing is reasonably clear though it lacks sufficient development in terms of effective paragraphing and sentence structure. 8=#H written work shows that #e can use simple and complex sentences well; to improve #e must use drafting to check the quality of #h paragraphing and try to add more imaginative details to #h work. 9=#E must practise in order to make #h writing more coherent but #e #h choice of words is reasonably accurate. 10=While #h writing grammar is great for #h level, however, #e still #frequadv makes mistakes in word choice and sentence structure. 11=One area I would like #m to focus on a bit more is #h writing. I have a lot of problems understanding what #e is trying to express in #h writing activities. By practising writing emails or short stories on a regular basis, #e will be able to significantly improve #h syntax, connective language and word order. 12=#E has made some pleasing progress this year but to improve #h written work #e must continue to work on the strength and clarity of #h expression. 13=I encourage #m to practice #h writing more often to build up #h syntax and connective language. This is also a good opportunity for #m to use and practise the newly learned vocabulary. 14=When it comes to writing, #e needs some more practice with #h word choice and sentence construction/ word order. 15=The technical aspect of #h writing has improved, and #e must continue to experiment with using a range of sentence structures, including subordinate clauses, and make an effort to keep #h writing clear. 16=#E needs to focus on the corrections given back to #m on #h writing assignments. I encourage #m to use my comments and corrections as reference when #e is writing, so that #e doesn't make the same mistakes a second time. 17=#H writing needs a bit more practice. #E can express #h ideas through English writing quite well, but #h grammar needs a bit of work. 18=Unfortunately, I sometimes have difficulty understanding what #e is trying to write. COMMENTS: 3 - closings - complete phrases - bad 1=Good progress has been made, but with a more concerted effort #e could go much further. 2=overall, the progress #N has shown this year has been hindered by attendance issues. COMMENTS: 3 - closings - complete phrases - excellent 1=#E has worked really hard this #time-period; well done! 2=As usual, #N has been a great student both in and out of class, and I look forward to seeing #m continue #h journey to becoming a great English speaker. 3=As usual, it is a complete pleasure to teach #N. 4=I enjoy teaching #N and seeing #m learn so many new things. If #e keeps up #h hard work and effort, #e will be on the right track to becoming a great English speaker. 5=I enjoy having #N as a student and I hope #e continues to work hard. 6=#E will continue to do well as long as #e maintains #h focus and positive attitude. 7=I am happy with #N's progress so far, and I hope #e continues to work hard. 8=With #N's positive attitude, I am sure #e will continue to do well. 9=If #N keeps up the great work, #e will have much success in #h endeavours. 10=It has been my great pleasure to be #N's English teacher. 11=I have greatly enjoyed being #N's English teacher this year. 12=Overall, I'm very impressed with #h progress this term. 13=I am fortunate to have #N as a student. 14=It has been my pleasure having #N in my English lessons. 15=#E has worked really hard this term.
