COMMENTS: Dance 1=In dance lessons #N has experimented with a wide range of actions, varying and combining spatial patterns, speed, tension and continuity when working on #h own, with a partner and as a part of a group. 2=#N has improved #h confidence in dance as the term has progressed and is now able to perform in front of #h peers and suggest ideas to improve #h and others performances. 3=#N has worked hard in dance lessons this year. #E was not very confident performing in front of #h peers at the start of the term, but has grown in confidence as the term progressed. 4=#N is a very confident performer in dance lessons. #E is able to follow and design complex dance routines with varying height, speed and tempo. 5=#N has really enjoyed dance lessons this term and has grown in confidence and fluidity as the sessions have progressed. #E is now able to remember, practise and combine longer and more complex dance phrases. 6=#E has communicated what #e wants through #h dances and #e has performed with fluency and control, showing sensitivity to the accompaniment and to #h peers. 7=#N has really improved in confidence in dance this term. #E was very hesitant to perform in front of others, but as the term progressed #e improved #h growth mindset and tried really hard. 8=#N was really involved in the dance sessions this term and was always happy to perform. #E clearly enjoyed the sessions and showed good improvement in #h body tension and ability to mimic movements. COMMENTS: Dance yr 2 1=#N has approached dance this term with confidence and a willingness to perform. #E is inquisitive, and will often shoot up #h hand to ask questions. This shows great enthusiasm, and hunger to learn. #H technical ability is way beyond what is expected for #h age group and has allowed the teacher to challenge them with concepts beyond what is expected for year 2. 2=#N has displayed great creativity in dance this term. #E thrives on feeding ideas to the class and is always bursting to perform a solo with everyone watching. This leadership quality, which we have nurtured, is such a fantastic asset to have. We have been very impressed with the level of determination #N has shown whilst learning new moves. 3=#N has thrived this term in dance. #E has used #h observation skills to adapt and change #h own performance based on how #e feels #e is reacting to the music. #N has been really eloquent in expressing #h ideas both vocally and physically and is always ready to take on suggestions. 4=#N has brought lots of energy to dance this term. I almost have to peel #m off the ceiling at the end of each lesson! #N is an expressive dancer and has loved working on our routines. To develop further #e needs to concentrate on #h balance whilst performing #h moves. COMMENTS: End development 1=#N clearly enjoys PE and loves being active. #E is naturally very competitive and always strives to win. However, to improve #e needs to curb some of #h natural enthusiasm and listen closer to instructions and directions. 2=#N generally works hard in PE sessions, but #e is easily distracted by #h peers and often needs to be reminded to be on task and listen to instructions. 3=To improve further I would like #N to ask more questions in PE lessons, particularly when #e is not clear about the finer points of a drill. 4=When #N concentrates in lessons #e shows that #e is a very talented sportsperson. I would like to see #m be a little more focussed next year as #e has the ability to be an excellent performer. 5=#N works well either on #h own or in small groups. #E has really improved this year and is starting to show some leadership skills. COMMENTS: Geog - St Lucia 1 1=#N has worked hard in geography this term and clearly enjoyed the topic of St Lucia. #E is able to locate the island on a world map, as well as label the surrounding oceans, islands and neighbouring countries. #E produced a good advert to promote St Lucia and this displayed #h ability to use Google to research the island and the use of iMovie to present this information in an interesting manner. 2=I am pleased with the progress #N has made during our study of St Lucia. #E is confident when using Google programmes to research and display #h work and this helped #h in both #h presentation on the key features of hurricanes and #h iMovie trailer to advertise St Lucia. 3=#N is conscientious, well-behaved and displays an excellent attitude to #h work. #E has enjoyed learning about St Lucia and is able to locate the island on a map, identify the key topographical features and use a variety of sources to research #h own areas of interest. 4=#E is able to locate the island on a world map, as well as label the surrounding oceans, islands and neighbouring countries and describe the local topography and culture. #E is confident when both asking and answering questions in class and is happy to help and support others. 5=#N has generally worked well this term and is always polite and helpful. COMMENTS: Hockey 1=Although #N is new to hockey #e has quickly learnt the correct grip and movements to effectively control the ball. #E knows how to control and pass the ball with a lot of success and is effective in game situations. #E now needs to work on stopping the ball effectively. 2=#N has demonstrated great improvement in hockey this term. #E has good stick control and is able to transfer #h knowledge of tactics from other sports into #h hockey matches. To improve further #e needs to work on #h awareness in attack and dribble with #h head up. 3=#N is a very good hockey player and has shown a real aptitude to this sport. #E has excellent ball control and is able to dominate matches with #h tactical and technical ability. To further improve #e needs to think about #h positioning off the ball and try to bring others into the game. 4=#N has really enjoyed our unit of hockey this term. #E has worked really hard to improve #h skills and is very involved in game situations, both in defence and attack. To improve further #e needs to think about how to create space in attack and limit space when defending. 5=#N has worked really hard to improve #h skills in hockey this term and has hugely improved #h ball control and passing. In game situations, #e is able to influence matches with #h tactical understanding and energy. To improve further #e needs to work on #h ball control when receiving a pass. 6=#N really enjoyed hockey this term and always tried very hard. #E showed good ball control and #h tactical knowledge is improving. In game situations #e is trying to manipulate space both in attack and as a defender but does need to work on the accuracy of #h passing. COMMENTS: Multi-Sports 1=#N works very hard in sport and clearly enjoys the subject. #E is very involved in game scenarios and puts in a lot of effort. #E has suggested how the rules could be changed to improve the game. 2=#N works hard in PE and shows promise, but needs to make sure that #e understands the 'non-contact' nature of sports at this age. #E can find listening to instructions challenging, and as a result then finds demonstrating a given skill in game scenarios harder. COMMENTS: Netball 1=#N showed good hand-eye coordination in netball this year. #E moves well off the ball and is very good at getting free for the pass. 2=In netball this year #N demonstrated good defensive skills but needs to improve #h ability to dodge and get free for the pass. 3=In netball this year #e demonstrated a good knowledge of positions and rules. 4=To improve in netball #N needs to develop #h tactical knowledge, particularly where each position on the court is allowed to go and what their main role is. 5=In netball #N is really good at anticipating where #h opponent will pass the ball and often gets interceptions. To develop further #e should think about the tactics #e uses to get open for the pass. 6=#E worked hard in netball to improve #h passing and movement and now needs to focus on anticipating #h opponents movements when defending. 7=In netball this year #N has improved #h spatial awareness and is much better at getting free for the pass and understands how to close players down to limit their space. 8=In netball this year #N displayed a good knowledge of the footwork and contact rules and has greatly improved #h ball handling skills. COMMENTS: Personal Fitness 6 1=#N has shown good leadership and empathy in health and fitness this year. #E started the year with a high level of fitness and has strived to both improve #h own fitness and helped motivate others. 2=#N has generally worked hard in health and fitness this term and has shown a noticeable improvement in #h fitness levels. In first aid #h can bandage a wound, tie a sling and knows how to check a patient's basic condition. 3=#N has worked really hard in health and fitness this year. #E has improved #h knowledge of different types of fitness training and the effects that they can have on #h heart rate, endurance and speed. 4=#N has displayed great resilience in health and fitness this year. There has been a noticeable improvement in #h fitness levels and this is down to #h determination and effort. COMMENTS: Rugby 1=#N demonstrates creativity and flair when attacking in rugby. #E has excellent hand-eye coordination and is able to dominate games with #h skills, tactical understanding, leadership and communication. 2=In rugby #N demonstrates increasing tactical knowledge, is actively attacking spaces and is able to pass more accurately off #h strong hand. #E understands the need to defend as a line, but is often drawn out of position. 3=#N has shown great improvement in rugby this term. #E is getting more involved in game situations and demonstrates a basic knowledge of rugby rules and tactics. #E is confident when running with the ball and is improving #h passing. 4=#N has really improved in rugby this term. #H awareness in attack has improved and #e understands #h position in defence. As #h confidence has improved #h communication has also improved and #e is now actively attacking space and calling for the ball. 5=This has been the first time #N has played contact rugby and #e has really improved in the contact area. #E demonstrates good tackle technique, particularly in regards to the hit and ring of steel. #E is an elusive runner with the ball and is becoming more confident passing the ball off either hand. 6=#N has been outstanding in rugby this term. #E is brave both in the tackle and taking the ball into contact and has good range and accuracy on #h pass. #E is very good at outwitting #h opponents and has good tactical understanding. 7=#N has worked really hard in rugby this term. #H catching and passing has improved and #e is trying to outwit #h opponents by dodging and running into space. #E understands the need to defend as a team and create a 'net' to catch #h opponents. 8=#N has developed #h passing and tactical knowledge in rugby this term. #E is now thinking of multiple ways of outwitting opponents and not just taking the ball into contact. #E is confident passing the ball off both hands accurately. 9=#H confidence in contact situations has really improved this term and #e is now a much more effective tackler. 10=#N found the move to contact rugby tough at the start of the term and was hesitant to tackle or run into contact. As the term progressed #h confidence grew and by the end #e was much more involved in game situations. 11=#N is confident running with the ball in rugby, but is still hesitant when tackling. When #e moves #h feet and gets into position early #e is a good tackler, but too often #e hangs back a little and this makes it very hard for #m to effectively tackle #h opponent. 12=#N is a very confident rugby player and #h speed and agility make #m very hard to stop with ball in hand. #E has a good understanding of basic tactics in rugby and is an excellent defender. 13=#N has really improved in rugby this term. #H awareness in attack has improved and #e understands #h position in defence. As #h confidence has improved #h communication has also improved and #e is now actively attacking space and calling for the ball. 14=#N has shown great improvement in rugby this term. #E is becoming better at anticipating the pass and is becoming more active in game situations. #E is calling for the ball more, but is still not very confident about what to do once #e has the ball. 15=In rugby #N has improved #h catching and passing skills and is an effective defender. When playing games #e has improved #h confidence and is now calling for the ball more readily. #E needs to improve #h decision making skills and tactical knowledge. 16=#N has shown good development in rugby this term. #H passing has improved and #e is demonstrating increasing confidence in the tackle situation. #E has a good understanding of the basic rules and can apply these in game situations. 17=#E is finding it hard to anticipate what is happening in game situations and this means that #e is often out of position and is unsure where #e should be. #E has shown improvement in #h hand-eye coordination, but this remains an area that #e needs to focus on. 18=#N has developed #h passing in rugby this term and is becoming focusing on #h 'hip-zap' technique. #E is very involved in game situations and is starting to understand the importance of running into space and supporting #h teammates. 19=#N has developed #h 'hip-zap' passing technique and understands the need to pass backwards in games. #H catching has also improved, but #e does need to work on getting #h hands up early to give #h teammates a visible target to pass to. 20=#N has really worked hard in rugby sessions this term and loves running with the ball. When passing #e is developing #h 'hip-zap' technique and is getting better at passing in front of #h teammates and on the run. In games #e is starting to understand the need to run into space and pass before #e is tackled. COMMENTS: Swimming 1=#N has demonstrated an advanced standard of swimming and is working carefully on further developing the techniques for all four strokes, listening carefully to the advice given by the instructors. 2=#N has made excellent progress in swimming, demonstrating good techniques for front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke and has begun to develop the technique of butterfly. #E displays an increased confidence in the water. 3=#N has developed #h front crawl and backstroke technique and started to use correct breathing techniques with #h face in the water. In diving, #N has learnt the feet-first 'Pencil' dive. 4=#N has developed #h front crawl technique and breathing, with the pattern of 3 strokes and then a breath, and learnt the 'Dolphin' technique to prepare the body movement for butterfly. In diving, #N has attempted both stood and sat down dives, with either head or feet first. 5=#N has honed #h arm pull and kicking techniques in all strokes. #E has worked on body position and breathing techniques, to enable less effort and effective speed and endurance. With the 'Dolphin' technique as a starting point, #e can now swim using a butterfly stroke. In diving, #e has attempted a wide variety of dives, focusing on body position and minimising splash. 6=#N has made excellent progress in swimming this term. #E has worked hard to improve #h front and back crawl technique and is developing #h breaststroke and butterfly technique. #E has become more confident in a few basic water skills. 7=#N has made excellent progress in swimming this term. #E can swim to quite a good standard in front crawl, backstroke and has begun to develop #h butterfly technique. #E is confident performing a variety of water skills and diving. 8=#N swims to an advanced standard and continues to make good progress in swimming. #E has worked hard on all technical aspects of front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly. #E is now very confident when diving and performing a variety of water skills. COMMENTS: Y1 Athletics 1=#N has really enjoyed athletics and cricket this term and shown great improvement. #E understands the different techniques for throwing a ball or a coit, but needs to work on #h accuracy. 2=In cricket and athletics this term #N showed that #e can catch and field simple throws but needs to work on keeping #h hands together when catching. 3=#N demonstrates good technique when throwing and has improved #h accuracy in cricket and athletics this term 4=In throw rounders, #N shows good tactical understanding by throwing the ball into space. #E shows good catching technique but does need more practice to improve #h success. 5=#N has worked hard in cricket and athletics this term and when throwing #e needs to remember to have #h opposite foot forward so that #e can generate more power. 6=#N has worked hard in cricket and athletics this term and when throwing #e needs to remember to grip the ball with ‘bunny ears’ so that #e can snap #h wrist to generate more power. 7=#N has worked hard in cricket and athletics this term and when throwing #e needs to remember to follow-through as this will improve #h accuracy and power. 8=#N has shown good development in the long jump and knows how to generate power in the jump by bending #h knees and swinging #h arms.
