This unit gave # a variety of opportunities to learn about different framework structures and how to make them stable and able to support loads. ^ investigated the materials used for the play equipment, what the different parts of the equipment were, and how they had been assembled. Through a range of focused tasks ^ developed ~ use of different construction kits, and ^ combined these with reclaimed materials. The main outcome of this unit was to design and make a model of an item of playground equipment eg slides, swings, roundabouts, climbing frames and adventure playground equipment. " Investigation ^ recognises the simple features of different types of playground equipment. ^ investigated how the materials and components have been used in pieces of play equipment ^ examined and ^ had a basic idea of how the items have been assembled. " Practical ^ made use of a limited range of materials and techniques to assemble and join components to make ~ own realistic models of some of the different types of playground equipment that ^ had examined. ^ was able to make ~ playground structure more stable e.g. by using a wide base. ^ was able to change the design, so that ~ model was able to withstand a greater loads e.g. by adding a support to ~ swing or climbing frame.
