It showed how a storybook could be used to develop ~ understanding of different geographical features and ideas while at the same time developing ~ literacy skills. This story is about an imaginary Scottish island. It also offered # the opportunity to express ~ own views about a wide range of different people, places and environments. " Struary Section 1: Where is Struay and what is it like? ^ has located Scotland and the Western Isles on a map. ^ is aware of the nature and character of an environment different from ~ own. ^ was able to identify the main features and places of interest and then ^ was successful in constructing ~ own map to record them. " Transport Section 2: What type of transport is used to get to, and move around, Struay? ^ has shown ^ knows about a wide range of different types of transport. ^ could recognise how the environment of the island was changing. " Work Section 3: Who lives on Struay and what work do they do? ^ recognised how the land and the buildings on the island were used in a number of different ways.
